What happened to the jawbone proposition?

Jawbone was a wearable fitness company. Co-founded by Yves Behar, they were early movers in the wearable bracelet space.

Their bracelets tracked sleep and steps. They blended with personal style. No screens. No loud designs. Just simple bracelets that fit with any watch or other bracelet.

What happened to that idea?

Most wearables now have obnoxious screens or weird designs. They require a snug fit, making them incompatible with other accessories.

Sony’s new bracelet is a notable exception. It replaces the clip of your watch, digital or analogue. It blends in. It’s unobtrusive.

I like unobtrusive tech. Quietly outspoken about your personality, taste and preference in tech. I wish there was more of it.
